This is a replacement dwelling for a new house in Portrush. The construction is designed to be as thermally efficient as possible, reaching passive house standards. It has a super insulated timber frame construction, high specification windows, mechanical heat recovery and ventilation system and solar panels installed. Its design maximises its relationship with the outside spaces through large sliding doors, sliding folding doors and large glazed openings.
The contemporary aesthetic is appropriate to its urban location and uses a sympathetic pallete of materials - white render, western red cedar timber panelling, and elements of Zinc.
On the ground floor are located a large open plan kitchen, dining and living space which open out into the garden and terrace areas via large sliding doors. A seperate family room to the front of the house has a more intimate feel with a projecting modern window seat.
On the first floor are located the main bedrooms with the childrens bedrooms enjoying a "jack and jill" bathroom.
